Why get a full body massage?
Everybody's body is different and experiences a range of different strains each and every day. People of all ages have different daily tasks and jobs, some more punishing on the body than others. All of this can build up over time and lead to aches and pains, without proper release.
A full body massage can help to release all of this pent-up tension and provide an enormous amount of relief and relaxation, leaving you better prepared to return to work. The release provided by a good massage can be beneficial not only physically, but emotionally, too.
What does a full body massage involve?
Our full body massages are designed to offer the highest levels of relaxation and comfort. Your session will take place in a warm and comfortable environment, whilst you lie on a surface designed for maximum comfort. Typically, the parts of the body targeted by the massage will include your back, arms, hands, legs, feet, head, neck and shoulders, with the exception of the private areas of the body.
The procedure will involve a range of different motions and pressures, which will change fluidly throughout the process. Pressure will typically increase throughout the session, to target key areas and muscle groups and release tension. Moisturisers or oils are often used to help hydrate your skin and make it more easy for your therapist to manipulate the skin.
Generally, you can expect a full-body massage session to last around an hour, longer than the session required for just a head or back and shoulders massage. This allows our therapist enough time to target all of the necessary areas of the body and the different muscle groups in sequence, ensuring complete relaxation of the entire body.
Benefits of a full body massage
A full body massage serves to reduce stress levels in the body, and may also help combat negative emotional problems such as depression or anxiety. Some people have found these all-over body massages to provide other benefits, too, such as more restorative sleep, higher energy levels, reduced fatigue and increased concentration span. All of these emotional effects can leave you ready to tackle any stressful situation once more, without becoming overwhelmed.
These massages can also provide pain relief and loosen up muscle and joint stiffness in the body, by releasing pain-relieving endorphins, the body's natural anaesthetic. Studies have also reported that these massages can provide relief to migraine sufferers, ease the stress on tired, overworked muscle groups, and even provide restorative relief to those suffering from sports injuries.
One of the first and most obvious benefits of the full body massage is its effects on the skin. The massage helps to exfoliate and remove dead skin cells from the whole body, improving skin tone and reduce dryness or flakiness. The treatment can also serve to increase or encourage regeneration of soft tissue, promoting the body's natural ability to restore and regrow skin cells. This can help to reduce the appearance of marks such as stretch marks or scars.
